Let's keep it simple.

If you believe you are Taxed Enough Already (T.E.A.) and believe the solution to the federal debt is cutting spending rather than raising taxes, then you are The Tea Party!

The federal government obtains about 3 Trillion Dollars per year from tax payers.

That is more than enough money for the federal government to fulfill all of the responsibilities and obligations that have been delegated to it by its citizens through the Constitution.

But the federal government spends far more money than just what is necessary to fulfill its responsibilities and obligations under the Constitution.

Much of the spending by the federal government is on programs that have nothing to do with its responsibilities and obligations under the Constitution. In many cases the authority to be involved and spend on many of these programs has not even been delegated to the federal government from the people by the Constitution. Without authority from the Constitution, the federal government has no legal right to be involved or to spend on these programs.

The federal government DOES NOT raise enough money from tax payers each year to afford to spend beyond meeting its Constitutional responsibilities and obligations.

The federal government spends about 4.5 Trillion dollars per year. That is 1.5 Trillion more than it obtains from tax payers. It is spending almost 50% more funds than what it obtains each year from tax payers.

In order to obtain the additional 1.5 Trillion dollars each year, the federal government borrows it from institutions and foreign nations. Thus the federal debt continues to grow each year.

Having more money going out than is coming in every year is a path to national bankruptcy and financial ruination.

The problem is not that we aren't paying enough taxes. The problem is that the federal government is spending too much money. The answer isn't to raise taxes but rather to cut spending.

The first step needed is for the federal government to reduce its spending from 4.5 Trillion dollars per year to 3 Trillion dollars per year. Only in that way will it stop spending beyond its means and cease adding to the national debt every year. Only then will the nation be able to begin to pay down its national debt and work its way back to economic health.

The main goal of The Tea Party is to get the federal government to cut spending in order to get it to live within its means. We are Taxed Enough Already (T.E.A.) and the federal government does not need to raise taxes to fix it financial problems. It needs to cut spending to fix its financial problems.

So if you believe that you are Taxed Enough Already and that the solution to the debt crises of our nation is for the federal government to cut spending rather than raise taxes, then you are The Tea Party!

Many organizations would like to bring other conservative issues under the umbrella of the Tea Party, but only the above fiscally conservative issues belong under the banner of The Tea Party.

That we are Taxed Enough Already and that the solution is to cut spending rather than raise taxes, are the ONLY common issues to everyone in The Tea Party.

There are people of every race, creed, color and sexual persuasion in The Tea Party. There are people of a variety of political persuasions in The Tea Party: conservatives, libertarians, Republicans, and even some Democrats and liberals. The only uniting factor is they all believe we are Taxed Enough Already and that the solution is to cut spending rather than raise taxes.

If other agendas are brought into the Tea Party, those issues will divide us, destroy our agenda, and make it difficult for us to achieve our goal of getting government to cut spending rather than raise taxes to fix the economy.

Just keep in mind that if you believe you are Taxed Enough Already and believe the solution is cutting spending rather than raising taxes, then you are The Tea Party!
